A commodity whose importance in our everyday lives that has grown substantially because of branding is, coffee. Such coffee suppliers as, Starbucks and Second Cup have greatly benefited from branding. Intensive branding of coffee has turned it into something much more than just, water and beans. Coffee is now used as a status symbol. As a coffee drinker I have bought coffee from various coffee shops and to be honest the ones that are more popular like, Starbucks, don’t taste that good (I’m sure a majority of people would agree with me). Starbucks is not just known for their coffee but more for their brand. When people buy Starbucks it’s just like buying a brand name pair of jeans, Starbucks is essentially brand name coffee. This just proves that with good marketing tactics and thorough product branding, almost anything can look better than it is.

I think what starbucks does beautifully is create a small "coffee house" experience at each of its many chains. With tasteful European decor, indie and jazz music playing and of course a large variety of gourmet coffee you feel that you're getting a genuine coffee house experience.
